Shaheed Receives Study Abroad Scholarship

Mariam Shaheed recently received a prestigious scholarship that will allow her to study at the Dongguk University in Seoul, South Korea.

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, will provide up to $5,000 toward Shaheed’s costs to study abroad.

The program allows students the opportunity to gain a better understanding of other cultures, countries, languages, and economics, making them better prepared to assume leadership roles after graduation.

Shaheed is currently in her second year studying computer science and pre-engineering at Dalton State. She is originally from Ghana, but has spent most of her time in the Dalton area.
